Today the crew concentrated on tearing down the overhang (for lack of a better term...) and preparing for walls.
Sal got on the roof....
and so did Jim.....
The ladies helped immensely.
And so did the Wren's dog Pepe....
At the end of the day, they weather proofed the area
and Ed did lots of digging/hauling dirt and rocks.
Tomorrow is a day of rest and we all plan to attend chapel on base.
Today, I'll let the pictures mostly speak for themselves.

We see great progress everyday. We are so thankful!
Today the crew started work on the sub floor. First they had to lay the plastic on the dirt of the crawl space, but when they arrived, there was a massive puddle on the ground from the downpour we got here last night.
They apparently were able to remedy the situation, because the plastic got laid.
I was a little nervous when Sal was walking the beam here.
What a blessing that three wives came along. Jim is talking with Priscilla, Judy and Jean. They do all the cooking and errands for the guys and are staying at the KOA in town in their RVs. I only have Sal staying with us and they feed him most of the time too.
Don had some questions for the Mt. Home building inspector and he came right out! This is quite the friendly and accommodating town.
Ed is shoveling away the excess dirt at the end of another productive day. Looks like they got half of the sub floor in. They laid tarps over everything to protect it from rain (a 40% chance tonight). Stay tuned!
Don tells me that significant progress was made today. The floor joists are in place! It didn't look like it would happen this morning as it has been raining a lot here. Ed got up extra early to drill holes through the concrete while under our current house in the crawl space. Ed then had to don his uniform to drive to Boise and attend the funeral of Chaplain Moore. Ed strained his ankle again and got some fiberglass in his eye. He's a little stressed. I continue to improve so I hope I can be of some help to the crew soon.

The wonderful crew from Wellspring Bible Fellowship in Roseburg, Oregon have arrived yesterday to help finish our room addition. I'm slowly recovering from the outpatient surgery I had done last Wednesday. I was hoping to be up and at 'em by now.... So for now, this is all the report you are going to get until I am able to sit at the computer longer. Below is the picture of the four guys (Sal, Don, Bob and Jim). Some of their wives came too!
Yesterday we got the sad news that Ed's wing chaplain with the Idaho Air Guard, Lt. Colonel Art Moore died of natural causes while on assignment in the Middle East. He loved God, people and fishing. He will be greatly missed.
Last evening we participated in the Protestant Community Chapel Volunteer Appreciation event on base. The cuisine was a cajun low country seafood boil.
They placed paper on long tables and dumped out the food (seasoned shrimp, red potatoes, polish type sausage and corn cobs).
Some of the folks would just stand there and eat and some would put some on their plate and go sit down.
I love shrimp and had some. It was tasty. But many of you know how "nit-picky" I am about a clean food environment. Having food served like this without hand washing stations
was a bit rough for me....
A bouncy castle was set up for the kids and was a great hit! It was a well attended, well planned event. We all had such a great time being with each other. The temps were in the '80s/'90s. Some of us wanted to do this every week.
Julie had fun hanging out with her friends from the youth group there. Earlier in the day, the chapel did a graduate recognition (our pictures didn't turn out....) and Julie was one of them. They had a pizza party after church for them.
Ed took photos (hundreds of them) while I sat and talked with people. Jim Sands is holding little Camden Jackson (I think he held him for two hours!) We feel blessed to be part of such a great chapel community!
Twenty years ago, I was living in Germany and pregnant with Greg. His due date was May 3 and he didn't arrive until May 23! My mom came on his due date and could only stay for 2 weeks. I cried at the airport when I had to say good bye to her and I was still pregnant.
The picture is not so great but gives you an idea of what I looked like.
I asked Greg to send me a photo of himself. The last ones I have a
re from around Christmastime. He sent me this one of his drivers license (plus a few others that I can't get to work right). He is like his father in that he doesn't like to smile for the camera even though I think he has a beautiful smile! He says that if a policeman stops you, you won't be smiling, so why smile for your license? I love you Greg more than you could ever know!
Today at PWOC (Protestant Women of the Chapel) at Mt. Home AFB, we had our installation of the new board for the '08/'09 year. It is my honor to serve this coming year with such amazing women.

Since starting this blog, I have learned a lot about publishing these things. I still have so much to learn. I like to go to other blogs and borrow ideas. I wonder quite often how they got their items to fit so well, how their pictures are in perfect alignment with their words. But for now, it is a great way to post some words and pictures on the internet for my friends and family. In lieu of a photo album this year, I have learned how to print this blog on my printer (after MUCH research).
Yesterday at chapel, Chap. Jim Sands did a children's sermon. He brought geodes and talked about the ugliness outside and the beauty within.
Update on my Mom: Tomorrow she goes for her 6th chemo session. After that, the docs will decide on further treatment (radiation, more surgery, more chemo...). She is tolerating the chemo well. She doesn't get sick but she is extremely tired for more than a week and a half. Her docs have told her she can't work but the social security docs say she can. So, they denied her claim the second time for disability. She is going to try again. Believe me, if my mom could work, she would. She likes to work. Thanks for your prayers.
We had to wait for spring foliage to appear in order to take the outdoor pictures. On Tuesday, Jodi took Julie and Luke (a good friend of Julie's) to various places in town. These are just some of the results. It is so hard to choose favorites because they are all so good! I remember when I was getting senior picture proofs back and I had to try to find one or two that I "liked". I rave about these. Great job Jodi!
We each had our favorites and because this is my blog, I get to choose mine! This is yet another example of how God provides for us. Julie babysat Jodi's four kids in exchange for these pictures. They both are very happy with their deal.
Yesterday and today our crew worked in earnest on the stem wall. I took tons of pictures but no matter how I set up the shots, I mostly got the back sides of people. Praise God the stem wall got finished today!
