Construction Stuff Even in Roseburg

Today, my mom and I met with Don at his house and at Gerretson's in Roseburg to tie up some loose ends. At Gerretson's, we got door handles and locks. (I wonder how I will fit them in my checked baggage...)
I also got to go on a hike with the "McMoms" of Roseburg. This group of ladies took me in as one of their own when we lived in Roseburg for that year of home assignment. Here we are on the North Umpqua Trail. I love to hike! Pictured here are: Janet, me, Shirley, Allie and Sue.

A Pleasant Weekend

My weekend in Roseburg was very pleasant. While I was here, work was still going on at our house in Idaho. Julie sent me these pictures she took. One is the finished roof and the other is of Ed and Pawel working on the inside.

My niece, Jenny and her husband Brandon were up in Roseburg visiting my brother Jerry this past week. Below we have (l to r, back to front): Lloyd, Mom, Jim, Denise, Kyle, Jerry, Jenny, me. Kyle loved going for rides with his "tister's husband" Brandon.

We also visited a shelter down the road from Jerry's house. These people take care of wild baby animals that were left alone. We got to see baby deer (2 and 3 weeks old) and baby raccoons. In one picture, the deer is nibbling on Denise's (my sis-in-law) ear.

Happy Anniversary!

Today, Ed and I celebrate our 22nd anniversary...but I'm in Roseburg and he's in Mt. Home. We plan to do something fun when I get back. Thank God for 22 great years!

The trip to Roseburg went pretty well. We made fewer stops than I expected and got into Roseburg before 6 PM. Ed's mom saw some critters along the side of the road and had to take a picture.

When I arrived in Roseburg, I drove straight to where Greg works and I gave him LOTS of hugs. Then I drove to see my mom. She showed me her bald head. She is going through radiation and is feeling greatly sunburned. The burn in fact has gone through her chest and she has blisters on her back. The following picture is of my mom (with her wig) and Greg comparing hair color.

Then I got to have my picture taken with my precious son. I look very tired because I was.

I hope to get pictures from Julie or Ed on progress on our room addition at our house soon.

Going Home

Today was Don and Priscilla's last day with us.  Priscilla put up masking tape around the window and picked up refuse all over the area. Don showed Ed how to finish things and then they dismantled the scaffolding and packed Don's truck. Ed's parents helped where they could.

 

The siding is done, the windows and doors are in, etc. etc. Don is the best foreman ever!  We can never repay the Wrens for all that they have done.

We are so thankful for them and for all the crew who came out to do this massive project! Someone gave us money to take Don and Priscilla out to eat, which we did. We then prayed and parted in the parking lot.  They have become very dear to us. Thank you God for the Wrens.

Thursday morning, I'm driving Ed's folks back to Roseburg. I plan to be there for a week staying with my mom and visiting Greg. I don't know if I'll be able to blog or not.  We'll see.

 

Roofing, Siding and Trim Cutting

Today, Ed's brothers (and families) left.  I was able to get a picture of Sam, Sarah and Katherine but Mark's family left around 6 AM.  Sam even helped a little on the roof before leaving around 10 AM.

Aric and Michelle Frostenson came early this AM to work on the roof. They took vacation time to do this for us!

While Aric and Michelle worked on the roof, Ed and Don worked on finishing the siding and starting on cutting wood for trim.

Priscilla cleaned up a huge mess of sawdust.

Peppie enjoyed Don's short break.  See Peppie's legs dangle from Don's lap? Ed's folks will be here until Thursday.

The Frostensons worked into the evening.  Aric plans to come back on Saturday.  We are truly grateful for their sacrifice.  This photo below is only a portion of what they accomplished today.

Oh, What a Day!

Monday, Ed and his brothers worked with Don and Priscilla on the siding while I took the rest of the family to Bruneau Dunes.  It was sad that none of us had a digital camera there.  We had such fun there!  I got one picture on my cell phone.  The guys got a lot done on the siding.  They are taking a break in this picture here.

Our wonderful roofer friends (Aric and Michelle) came Monday evening and it was discovered that we didn't have the nails or fabric needed.  I drove to Boise at 8:30 PM with the lovely Julie and Katherine pictured here to go to Lowe's and get the materials. We arrived shortly after 10:30 to a surprise graduation party for Julie.

I didn't set up the shot right since the cake is hiding behind the wooden butcher guy on the table.  It was a wonderful, stressful, fulfilling day with wonderful people. 

Siding and a Family Reunion

On Saturday Pawel and Richard (a chaplain) helped us put on the siding.  Our roofer was unable to come but plans to come Monday evening.  Ed's parents and two brothers and family members came this weekend for a visit.  I plan to get pictures of all of them tomorrow.

Sunday evening we had 19 adults at "The Truth Project" study at Tim & Jen's house.

 

Doors are in!

Today Ed and Don put in the doors.  Tomorrow a crew is coming to do the roof.  They plan to come early (6:30 AM) as it is supposed to be close to 100 degrees tomorrow.

Smaller Crew

Today, Paul and Beryl left but not before Paul helped put the window in and Beryl cleaned a portion of my house! They truly are servant leaders and we are honored to serve with them.

Priscilla has been such a blessing to us. She and Don are sacrificing so much to help us!

The windows are both in.  Tomorrow they (Ed and Don) plan on putting in the doors.

Today, I had a doctor's appointment in Boise.  Julie went with me.  There was a miscommunication with the receptionist and I was told I would have to wait for another 45 minutes.  To kill time, Julie and I walked to the Capitol building (presently being renovated).
