More About Suzie's Mom

My mom is adjusting to life with chemotherapy, shots, doctor visits, etc. Her hair is almost gone. She says that she can handle the cancer part but it is the uncertainty of how she is going to pay for everything that bothers her. A medical professional in Roseburg has come forward and will be her primary care physician for free. Wow! Keep praying the rest will happen for her too. This picture is a childhood photo of my Aunt Mary (left) and my mom. Wasn't she cute?

My mom's birthday was the 27th of Feb. As a present to her, she wanted me to get a well woman exam and a mammogram. I did the exam yesterday and will have the mammogram in a few weeks. I went to get my blood drawn today. I told the gal there about my mom and she gave me a hug as I left to encourage me. It looks like I will have to have a few "procedures" done within the next month or so. One is an ultrasound on my thyroid and the other may include surgery. I will keep you posted on this blog.

Ed's Part Time Job

God provided a very flexible part time job for Ed while we are waiting for the ministry to get self sustaining here. The office is only a few blocks from our house.

Julie finally got around to getting her driving permit in Idaho. I expect to get a few more gray hairs in the coming months.

Protestant Women of the Chapel Board Members

The Protestant Women of the Chapel (PWOC) at Mt. Home AFB had their monthly board meeting this week. Three of our gals were missing (Niva [hospitality], Erika [child care] and Jill[outreach]). I'm (Prayer Coordinator) up front in the photo and (L-R) the other gals are: Michelle (Publicity), Amber (Participation), Dee Dee (Secretary), Kathleen (President and Treasurer), Jodi (Spiritual Life), Jennifer (VP), Staci (Librarian) and Cathy(Praise & Worship).

We need more space!

It can get very crowded (a good thing!) so we need to get serious about building an addition.

House Upgrade

This is our house front and back. We plan to build a 24' x 24' room where you see the back door and kitchen window extending out to the backyard.

We still have some work to do to get it started. So far, we have $13,000 raised.

Walk to Iraq and Back

As an outreach of our PWOC, we got people on base to walk for our program

"Walk to Iraq and Back". We had some folks from our base deployed to Iraq. We determined that together we would walk the distance from Mountain Home, ID to Iraq and back. We made our goal and had our party today. This is a group of some of our gals from PWOC who participated. I walked 580 miles. Some of us are wearing our t-shirts from the event.

Praise and Worship

Julie and I help Cathy with praise and worship at PWOC (Protestant Women of the Chapel). I'm standing right behind Julie as she is playing the guitar in this picture.

Our other cat, Molly

We got Molly at the pound in Roseburg (in '99) after Ed saw her picture in the newspaper. She is a Scottish Fold (note the "folded ears"). Apparently, all Scottish Fold cats are descended from a cat named Suzie born in 1961 (the year I was born) in Scotland. Julie made the scarf.

Kiki, the Entertainer

We have had Kiki for 10 years now. She was abandoned as a kitten in our neighbor-

hood near Tacoma.

Greg's Business

Our son, Greg (19), has his own business in Roseburg, Oregon at the mall. He sells cell phone accessories. This photo (which is bad and has too much light, I know!) was taken at his booth at Christmastime with his cousin, Michelle, and his sister, Julie.

Suzie's Mom

My mom, Leona (Lee) Spencer has breast cancer. She had surgery a few weeks ago and is now going through chemotherapy. She has no insurance and can't work. Please keep her in your prayers. She is such a remarkable woman. To know her is to love her.

It's Official

It's official. Ed got an AARP card offer in the mail today. He's officially old.

Today Ed had to shovel snow, again. Does he look 50 years old?

Welcome Guests!

We received a call as we were getting ready to leave for church. Pastor Neil Evans and his wife Diane (I'm sure my spelling isn't correct) were in town visiting their daughter, Alyssa (sp?) and family who live here in Mt. Home. They used to be at the Nyssa Baptist Fellowship church. We signed them onto base so they could attend chapel with us. What a treat!

I went to church in Nyssa, Oregon (on the border of Idaho just south of Ontario) when I was a child. I got baptized in that church. Here is a photo of them with their daughter and grandchildren as they were leaving chapel.

More Snow

We got a severe dumping of snow last night. The snow on our culdesac road was as high as the curb. We had warmer temps though, so driving to church wasn't too treacherous. Julie has a love/hate relationship with snow. She hates the restrictions it imposes but loves to take pictures in it. I caught her this morning on her way out to take photos.
