Fall 2019

We are thankful for the opportunity to minister here in Mountain
Home.

Currently we have a group of young moms who meet at the Kid's Gym on base every week for Bible study. Here every chair is occupied. We have talked with the director there and hope that they will let us use the party room to allow for more ladies.

We had a fall retreat for our women's ministry here. I don't have a picture of the whole group. This is just those of us who participated in the painting class. This is the first retreat in years here that I didn't have some responsibility. The gals did very well without my help. We bonded and had great spiritual lessons.

Some from our Friday night group got together in early October and had a half day of prayer. It was unusually cold for October (30 degrees). I had plenty items to keep me warm. It was a great start to Autumn.

Julie and children were with us for 8 weeks while they were transitioning to Jesse's new duty station in Ohio. Jesse was with us for a few weeks. During that time, he completely remodeled our master bathroom.

Our new wing chaplain has invited us (and other groups) to participate in Right Start (base orientation). We get to tell all of the newcomers about our ministry. This is a great opportunity.

We participated in the Trunk or Treat outreach at Calvary Chapel in town. Ed goes all out. He painted the cardboard sides with Dr. Seuss characters, scrounged up our costumes and printed out clever flyers he designed around the theme of Thing one and Thing two. There were so many kids there, we were very busy most of the evening.

We took a group from the base to Mission Aviation Fellowship HQ in Nampa, Idaho. It was great to expose our people to missions that also has to do with aviation. I do believe seeds were planted on this trip.

Summer 2019

It was a wonderfully, busy Summer.

We got a VIP type tour of a fighter squadron on base. They let us hang out with pilots, tour the hangar with an F15 parked there and try on flight suits.

We have had several adventures with singles and newly marrieds. The photo above is from a Fourth of July trip into the forest.

We got a new wing chaplain who had some of us pray over him when he pinned on his new rank. He is very supportive of what we do. We are grateful for his leadership here.

Vacation Bible School went well with over 100 kids in attendance. It was a lot of work, especially for Ed. He was in charge of the decor (which was amazing) and the Bible station.

We have had small gatherings throughout the summer for our women's groups on base and at our house.

This is a group that met on a Friday night at our house.

We had to say "goodbye" to our colleagues, Eric and Janet Thimell. The LORD has called them to South Carolina at Victory Ranch (a Cadence community). We prayed over them and were sad to see them go.

A military father on base baptized his son at the chapel.

Family Bible Camp at Warm Lake, Idaho was a great success! We partnered with four churches in the area. The Word of God was preached. We had amazing experiences. We plan to do it again next year.

We got to spend time with our Cadence colleagues in our region at a camp in Washington state. While it was a "work" conference, it was also encouraging and energizing.

Right now, Julie and children are with us as her family transitions from Alaska to Ohio. All 6 of us conquered the big dune at Bruneau.

Spring 2019

We have been blessed to be quite busy here. Here are some pictures of our Spring/early Summer here.
We had a Cadence West Region retreat for ladies at The Refuge in Washington State. Jennessa Randall coordinated the whole thing very well.

The ever present need to work on the ministry facility. Eric and Ed will hopefully be able to work on finishing this project next week.

Here we are with chapel staff promoting VBS at the Base Exchange  (BX).

We worked on two passover seder demonstrations in Mountain Home. This one was at the chapel on base.

Friday night Bible study and dinner at our house each week.

Here is a blurry picture of our women's half day of prayer in Glenn's Ferry. It was amazing!

We had a Friday night study at Bruneau Dunes.

We went to Bruneau Canyon. We are pictured before our hike to the bottom. It was a great workout and very beautiful.

We had a mini homemaking event at my house. We also got to celebrate Cynthia's birthday.

We went to Warm Lake Camp to recon for our Family Bible Camp on Labor Day weekend. The pastor and his wife (Tom and Sandi Lang) from Bible Baptist Church in Payette, Idaho joined us. They have volunteered to help us that weekend. It is so beautiful at Warm Lake.

Last Part of Winter 2019

Back from Home Assignment!

I've been sick for four of the weeks that I've been back. But some great things have happened here.  One such thing was the women's homemaking session.  Ayla taught us how to make mushroom risotto in the InstaPot. I taught Bible journaling.

Our bible studies are going well and we are encouraged.
Thanks so much for your prayers and encouragement.

Happy New Year 2019

We are still on home assignment until this end of this month. It really has been wonderful. We have spent valuable time with family, old friends and made new friends. Our sending church has greatly encouraged us. I believe we will head back to Mountain Home Air Force Base refreshed and ready to jump back into ministry. Here are some highlights.

As you can see, it is all about the wonderful people. We are so blessed.
