Milestones

I got to be with Julie when she had her ultrasound today. I have to admit that I was in tears but I don’t think anyone there noticed. The baby was very active and moving around a lot. What a thrill!

Yesterday, Julie, Jesse and I went to a retirement ceremony for Tim Holtorf. If you were at the wedding, Tim was the one who manned our audio/visual things. His wife, Amy, is the one who coordinated the wedding and made the beautiful cake. This is the summer for goodbyes and this is just one of them. As I’m typing this, they are on their way to start their new life in the Spokane area.

2009 Warm Lake Boy’s Camp

We just got back from a week at junior boy’s camp. This is the camp I went to as a child.  Six boys made first time decisions for Christ! This was our third year there.  We love it!

If you know me, you know I love to hike.  Here are Jill and Diane with me at the beginning of the hike to Vulcan hot springs.  Jill and I attended Warm Lake camp together when we were in high school.  Diane’s husband used to pastor the church in Nyssa that I attended as a child.

End of Greg’s Visit

I’m so glad that Julie and Greg love each other so much.

 

I drove Greg to Ontario, Oregon to rendezvous with my mom who was staying in New Plymouth, ID.  There we met with Uncle Drexell, Aunt Myrna and my Grandma Page.  I always enjoy spending time with them.

If you look closely at the top picture, Ed is trying to smile.  He is still in pain.  We got the results of the X ray today.  It says he has significant degeneration and will need an MRI. Please keep him in your prayers.

Greg is home

 

Greg is visiting us for a week.  We were all going to go camping but then Ed got what we think is a pinched nerve in his back.  He is in constant pain. Camping was out.  So we just kind of hung out together for the weekend and went to see the Bruneau Canyon.  It is so beautiful!  We also played lots of board games which we all enjoy doing.

Late Spring Happenings

I have been very impressed with the pictures my cell phone takes.  The next few shots are from my cell phone.

We had a tremendous hail storm last week.  You can see the sheets of water pouring down.

Seven of us from the base chapel sojourned to Warm Lake Camp to help them get the camp ready for the Summer. More planned to come with us but were called to duty at the last minute.  Military ministry….you’ve gotta love it!  The next shots are not from my cell phone.

 

Jesse and Dave both injured their thumbs at work camp. Don’t you feel sorry for them?

Chaplain Anderson’s wife, Beth and their daughters, Ashley and Jordan came to help at camp.  They were very good workers!  He is currently deployed. They were given a pillow case with his picture on it.  They brought it and hung it on the wall in their cabin.

I had the new executive board for PWOC over for a mini retreat.  We read through job descriptions, studied a passage of scripture and ate a raclette meal together.

While Holly taught from Acts, Julie worked the flannel graph for Wednesday evening Bible study.  Julie has fond memories of the flannel graph from her childhood.

A dear friend of ours bought us  top of the line lap tops.  There is so much to learn with a new system.  I’m still way behind in so many things because I’m learning how this works.  Bear with me!

Please be in prayer for all the ministries here on base.  This is the worst year for moves and deployments.  By August, 2/3 of our Velocity group (at least) will be gone including most of our leadership.  

Grandma's 90th Birthday Bash

My dear Grandma celebrated her 90th birthday with us this past Saturday.  All three of her kids, five of her seven grandkids and four of her great grandkids were there.  I saw family members and friends of the family I hadn't seen in years.  We all had such a great time. Below is Grandma with her kids (Aunt Jan, my dad [Jerry], and Aunt Myrna).
